Fast-forward

All my life, I have wanted to fast-forward

Fast-forward through all the heartbreak

Taken like shots and treated like mistakes

Fast-forward through the bumps and bruises

felt near rough waters and icy planes

Fast-forward through the tears

cried in between the frames

Fast forward to the moment, I have it together

But together, I may never be

For this birthday, I simply want to be

and see what the tide brings in

This year of 28, although, new feels familiar

So much so that I think I’ll finally learn

to just let it play
